About these documents:
These documents are Net.Data seminar materials for seminars I conducted in 2001. Most of the material is condensed from other documents available on this site.

The lab is an especially good introduction to Net.Data. If you've never used Net.Data, it will probably take 2-3 hours to work through the lab, at which point you'll have a very good idea of how to get Net.Data up and working, and you'll have some nice looking web pages to use as examples.
Links to the documents:
DynAccessNetData.pdf - PDF file, "Provide Dynamic Access to iSeries 400 Data with Net.Data" (not a title that I chose). Good half-hour overview of Net.Data for the iSeries. (2031KB)
AdvantageNetData.pdf - PDF file, "Take Advantage of Net.Data to Build Interactive Web Sites" (another title not of my choosing). Continuation of the previous document, shows how to use add/update with database file in Net.Data, e-mail, call RPG programs from Net.Data, call stored procedures, overview of persistency. (1373KB)
UsingNetData.pdf - PDF file, "Using Net.Data with the iSeries 400". This document has most of the material as the previous two documents. (2346KB)
BuildNetData.pdf - PDF file, "Build Net.Data Web Pages in Minutes". Another "not my title", as I don't think it serves anybody's purposes to try to trivialize the amount of time and effort it can take to get things going. In any event, this is the lab, and of all of the documents in this section, probably the most useful thing to download.

Note: the HTTP Server configuration steps are shown for the OS/400 V5R1 version of the configuration program. If you are on an earlier release, use the steps shown in How to get Net.Data up and running, also available at this site. Once you get the HTTP server configured, you can continue with the rest of the lab. (3493KB)
